Founder, NorthWest Investment and Retirement Group, LLC & Financial Advisor
My passion lies in witnessing the transformation of my clients as they transition from their careers into fulfilling retirements. I take pride in ensuring we have effectively transitioned their investment strategy from wealth accumulation to income distribution.
I graduated cum laude from the University of Idaho in 1982, earning a double degree in finance and business management. My love for numbers and their potential led me to this path. I had two paths in front of me after college - to work behind the scenes as a financial analyst or portfolio manager or to engage directly with clients. I chose the latter, and it's been a rewarding journey witnessing the results we achieve together.
Throughout my career, I have learned to navigate the complexities of investing, taking advantage of opportunities as they arise. I strive to provide a steady hand, tempering the emotional highs and lows that often accompany the investment journey, and guiding my clients away from poor decisions.
My interest in financial planning was sparked by observing the adults in my life. My parents, like many others, never planned for the future. They saved some money and hoped for the best. I knew there had to be a better way. This drove me to explore investing and the power of making money work for you.
To stay at the forefront of the financial planning field, I regularly attend continuing education seminars. These cover a range of topics from investment and retirement planning to estate and trust planning and education savings programs. This ensures I can offer the most current information and solutions to my clients.
Outside of work, I am happily married to my wife, Cheryl. We are proud parents to our three children, Jacob, Elizabeth, and Spencer. While they have all grown up, they still live locally here in Portland. It is a joy to have them close.
